Day 7 of 12 Days of Christmat Great Reads and Great Authors - Sunny Frazier

I’ve saved Sunny Frazier for Sunday because Sunday is her day to give “nudges” to help people promote on the internet. Sunny has taken the internet as if it was a bull by the horns, lassoed it and shared that knowledge with others. She has a “posse” of people she helps and I am a proud member. With all she does for others, I don’t know how she finds the time to write, but write she does.

Her books are the Christy Bristol Astrology Mysteries. FOOLS RUSH IN is the first and WHERE ANGELS FEAR is the second. Both are great reads. Funny, suspenseful and can’t put them down until the end. They are loosely based on Sunny’s work at the sheriff’s department for a number of years. However, the astrology part is the most unique with Christy using her skills and the stars to profile the suspects. These are a must read.

Sunny I can’t thank you enough for all you have done to help me promote my books and get them out there for people to find. And I am not alone. You are always adding others to your distribution list. Your outspoken encouragement has always pushed me to try new things. Thank you. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for today…

Watch for the latest Christy Bristol Mystery due out in 2011!

  1. Many of us owe Sunny a debt of gratitude for showing us the way on Internet promotion. And don't forget to thank her for her books as well. Just a gentle reminder, Sunny: Your fans are awaiting A Snitch in Time. Hope you get some writing time over the holidays.

  4. As a member of Sunny's posse, I have to say she is exceptionally generous with sharing her time and knowledge, and is somewhat of a marvel, using her mysterious skills to find new places to promote.

She has also taught me to think differently than when I first started out, showing me that it is okay, even good, to share those things I have found to be successful in the realm of promotion, because there is room in this field for everyone to be successful.

  5. "Aw shucks" is my first reaction.

I love that Wendy wrote this because when I first met her and started laying out my "plans" for her marketing, she backed away (later she confessed she was sick). Wendy is headstrong and independent but I always knew she'd be tenacious and grab ideas and make them her own. In fact, all four people who commented above have eclipsed me in marketing at this point. I learn from them.

Yes, I'm looking at an unattended manuscript. Doing acquisitions for Oak Tree is overwhelming and extremely satisfying. I love helping others launch their career. I also make more money now speaking at colleges and being flown to exotic locations than with book sales. It seems people are willing to pay for the inside tricks of publishing and lessons on the craft of writing
than buying another book for the bookshelf. That's why there are so many books on writing out there.

I just have to learn to do a balancing act. Plus, I keep teaching myself new marketing ploys that I just HAVE to pass on!

  6. Thanks, Wendy, for your astute comments on our pal, Sunny. Sunny is a great friend who never steps back from sharing all the tips she has gleaned and continues to glean. But I have a space in my bookshelf just waiting for "A Snitch in Time." No sleep for you, Sunny.

  9. I belong to the posse and appreciate Sunny for her prodding and encouragement. Balancing writing with editing, and speaking, takes a well-disciplined person devoted to the craft. Yet she still takes time to help other writers.

  10. Sunny is definitely the driving force behind so many peoples emergence as serious writing forces. She is the only reason I'm where I am, writing, publishing and learning how to do both extremely well.

I love her writing, but I love being her posse even more!

  12. I don't know what I could add to what everyone else has said, except to say Thank You, Sunny! I don't know anyone else who is quite so generous with their time in helping others. What a nice tribute to all of your hard work.

  14. Glad to hear your book, "A Snitch in Time," will be out in 2011. That's just around the corner. I saw the weather report for Central California tonight then received your e-mail about traveling in all that. Glad you made it okay and hope you aren't hit with a big dose of Tule fog that normally follows the rain there at this time of year. Good going with the book and all your marketing. P.S. Someday, I'll post my picture like some of the others. I haven't figured out how to do that yet. If you see it then you'll know I finally caught on.

I haven't seen Sunny since she was here in Nashville last August. She was a speaker on two excellent panels at the 2010 Killer Nashville Writing Conference.
